Robert Lee Johnson, 59, of Decatur, IL passed away at 8:50 a.m. on Thursday (Aug. 12, 2010) in his residence.
Memorial service will be 5:00 p.m. Sunday (Aug. 22, 2010) at Dawson & Wikoff North Chapel with Pastor Robert Gullion officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00-5:00 p.m. Sunday. Memorial contributions may be directed to Cancer Care Specialists of Central Illinois, 2880 N. Monroe St. Decatur, IL 62526. Mr. Johnson was born on October 5, 1950 in Springfield, IL, the son of Oliver Clinton “O.C.” and Charlotte F. (Behl) Denny. He was the manager of Arena Food Service at the Macon County Correction Facility for seven years. He was a member of New Republican Baptist Church. He was an avid Green Bay Packer and Dale Earnhardt fan. Robert crafted tinmen and loved to do crafts in Missouri with his sister Sheila. He married Brenda Sue Henington on October 5, 1988.
Surviving is his wife: Brenda Sue Johnson of Decatur, IL; sons: Kenny (Julie) Johnson of Decatur, IL, Kevin (Kim) Johnson of Decatur, IL; daughter: Marion Roop of Tulsa, OK; brother: Chuck (Janice) Johnson of Bethalto, IL; sisters: Vicki (Mike) Boher of Fosterburg, IL, Sheila (Jerry) Henke of Highlandville, MO; step brother: Richard Denny of Hillsboro, IL; step sisters: Gail Denny of Greenville, IL, Sheryl Denny of Litchfield, IL; seven grandchildren: Ashley, Corey, Kyle Lee, Andrew, Kyle, Zach and Cearra; beloved pets: Fifi, Sassy, Cocoa, Heidi and Boots.
He was preceded by his parents.
A special thanks to D.M.H. Hospice, Dr. Mario R. Velasco Jr. and the late Dr. Robert Smith for the loving care Robert received.

Sue and the entire Johnson Family. I was saddened to lear that Bob had passed away. I always looked forward to seeing him in the clinic. We shared many a laugh or two. I wish I had his ability to look at objects and turn them into something special that somebody would buy. Dr. Smith, always like seeing Bob as well. It was a privilege to take care of him and you. He will be Missed--by all.

Very sorry to read of the passing of your dear loved one Robert. I t seems that life is such a precious gift and yet so short-lived for the time we exist. I am writing to share a few words of comfort and encouragement from the source of truth the bible.
God holds out a wonderful hope for all those in the grave. At John 11:25 Jesus said "I AM THE RESURRECTION AND THE LIFE. HE THAT EXERCIES FAITH IN ME, EVEN THJOUGH HE DIES, WILL COME TO LIFE."
What a blessed reason to hope in God! (John 5-28,29)
With your memories of Robert they will bring you great joy. When a loved one becomes a memory that memory turns into treasure.

i am sorry about roberts passing and i do thinking alot of robert as more as a family then a friend he has always been there for my sons ryan bentz and cody bentz r.i.p. pops..we love you and miss you ..we will meet again .
